Good Dog's strength is in its people. Smart, creative and highly skilled, our team can handle almost any problem tossed their way. The Good Dog crew is made up of three main principals and a team of designers and developers whose combined talents keep us sharp and able.


Tom Gooden, Principal + Founder

Tom Gooden is the founder and co-principal of Good Dog Design. He serves as creative director and senior project manager. Tom has the capability to blend a creative, strategic vision with a grounded development environment, resulting in a process that is innovative and rigorous.

Prior to founding Good Dog Design, Tom worked as a concept designer at Lucasfilm Ltd., where he developed product concepts and created inventive approaches to project visualization. 

Tom received a BA in Industrial Design from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1992. He lives just a few minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge in Mill Valley, California with his wife and business partner, Laura Foley.

Henry Gooden,  Principal

Henry Gooden is the co-principal of Good Dog Design. He serves as development director, and senior project manager with more than fifteen years of experience in the digital and web environment. Henry specialises in digital strategy and creating custom solutions to the stickiest of  problems.  

His mix of a business background and a passion for digital development results in innovative and spectacular projects. Henry received his B. Comm from the University of Adelaide in 1994, and spent a few years working in financial accounting before diving into digital media in 1996. Henry completed his MBA at the University of Adelaide in 2011 winning prizes in Strategic Management, and Fundamentals of Leadership.

Henry lives in Adelaide where he can usually be found chasing after his children on the weekends. Henry has swam numerous long distance open water swims including successfully  escaping from Alcatraz four times.

Laura Foley, Principal

Laura Foley is a co-principal of Good Dog Design. She works as a designer and art director on the firm’s wide range of projects. Laura focuses on the user experience in each project, so that creative ideas are realized in both inspiring and accessible ways. 

Educated at the Rhode Island School of Design, Laura pairs her fine arts background with a decade of web and user interface experience in the development of each project’s design and functionality. Laura enjoys collaborating with different teams to produce successful online products and environments. By maintaining a flexible and attentive approach to each project, Laura ensures that Good Dog Design’s work consistently exceeds client expectations.



Laurie Chu, Project Manager

Laurie recently joined Good Dog as its project manager, striving to get the best out of the people and projects she works on. Moving from the Eastern Sierra to take a position at Industrial Light + Magic, she then honed her soft skills and became a life-long learner at Edutopia where she was the web production manager and known as the "closer." Laurie enjoys stepping in during all parts of a project workflow — from client care to content management to front end development.

Laurie is a third generation Californian who thinks she was a honu in a previous life. As a recreational therapy major and equestrian, she volunteers to help people with disabilities experience a sense of freedom and mobility through therapeutic horseback riding.

Guillermo Soria, Project Manager

Guillermo is Good Dog Design Australia’s office project manager. Originally from Mexico City, Guillermo holds a bachelor degree in electronics engineering and has worked as an IT change manager, product owner and supporting web and mobile apps. Guillermo's experience gives him a keen eye for small details and quality.

Passionate for the environment, outdoors and endurance sports, Guillermo can be often be seen riding his bike across the Adelaide Hills, and even commuting daily through the city. Contrary to Ed, he loves going to the beach finding the sand soft, smooth and a great exfoliant for his feet.

Designers + Developers 

James Brooks, Lead Developer 

James Brooks is a senior software engineer at Good Dog Design with an honours degree in Computer Science from the University of Adelaide.

His experience includes over ten years of developing full-stack web applications using Ruby on Rails and over eight years of developing mobile applications for the iOS platform. James enjoys often playing around with new technologies, helping him find the right fit for every project that comes across his desk.


Kristin Baylis, Lead Designer

Part of the Good Dog team since 2005, Kristin is an experienced and versatile UI/UX designer; this allows her to swap between UI and UX roles seamlessly in different projects where needed, for both mobile and web. Kristin has a keen eye for design and layout, ensuring that a consistent design language is applied across the product, whilst creating a rich user experience that provides a delightful flow for users. Every now and then when set with a graphic design task, Kristin flexes her print skill set with relish.

When not working on a project at her desk, Kristin is anywhere but! She adores animals and the outdoors, and along with her dog, she can frequently be found carting her horse around to ride at the beach, river or shows.


Chris Gooley, Developer

Chris Gooley is a developer with a suite of skills and a specialty in Ruby on Rails. Chris' rock solid background enables him to be exceptionally flexible and is comfortable working in a wide variety of programming languages and frameworks.  

Prior to working with Good Dog Design, Chris graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2007 with a degree in Mathematics and Computer Science. In his free time Chris enjoys mountain biking, kayaking and responding with his local CFS Brigade.


Scott Lamacraft, Developer

Scott Lamacraft graduated from the University of Adelaide with an Honours degree in Software Engineering in 2015. He has experience in a wide range of languages and has completed several projects in Ruby on Rails, which is his current specialty at Good Dog Design. Scott's well developed analytical skills enable him to rapidly come to grips with any new coding challenge he tackles.

Scott's interest in Ruby on Rails started while working on a project to develop a casual staff timetabling application for the School of Computer Science at the University of Adelaide. Away from Good Dog, Scott enjoys gaming and Magic the Gathering.

Damien Mason, Front End Developer

Damien Mason has been with Good Dog Design for over seven years and acts as both a designer and front-end developer. Damien has a wealth of skills and abilities backed up by over a decade of experience in the digital field. Damien has a fine eye for detail and an equally disciplined work ethic.

Prior to working at Good Dog Design, Damien worked as a designer and e-Learning content developer in the education sector.


Sam Wan, Developer

Sam Wan acts a developer at Good Dog with a specialty in Ruby on Rails and a broad base of expertise stretching from java to C++ to php.  Sam is noted for delivering flexible problem solving solutions that deliver tricky projects on time and on budget.

Prior to working at Good Dog Design, Sam worked as a software engineer at Daronmont Technologies Pty Ltd, learning and applying software engineering techniques to produce high quality mission control systems. In 2007, Sam received First Class honours from Adelaide University for Bachelor Mechatronic Engineering Mathematics and Computer Science.


Jerry Chai, Developer

Jerry Chai is a medical student turned full stack web developer. He is experienced in JavaScript, Ruby, Rails and other web technologies. He has strong meta-cognitive abilities due to his scientific background and he is adept at figuring out the the right tools for each project. 

Outside the office, Jerry likes to do improv comedy and practice various styles of dancing (urban and jazz). He also loves traveling and is quick at adapting to different cultures and environments.


No design team can specialize in every diverse and complex aspect of website development. For extremely specialized areas we bring in extremely specialized people. Good Dog Design has a wide network of extraordinarily talented firms and individuals that we collaborate frequently with to tailor our services to each project.
